Maine Lightning is very pleased to release an entirely new division of the Maine Lightning program called “Sparks”. This is a new 6U-8U developmental program in which players will go through a structured winter training and play both development games (coach pitch) as well as working toward player pitch games. We have created this program to give younger players an opportunity to learn and develop their skills while being in a fun yet competitive environment.

If you are interested in our 6U-8U development program, you can sign up through the link HERE. There are no tryout fees, but spaces are limited!

The cost is $900 with a $250 deposit to hold your spot.  Payment plans are available during registration

Advance eight years old may be asked to move up to 9U. If you would like to be considered for that promotion, players will need to go through a formal eval. You can sign up for the tryouts HERE.

The Sparks program is for any player ages six through eight who wants to be introduced to the sport of baseball. With that, we are also very excited to announce that former Portland Sea Dog, John Nathans will be joining our staff and heading up player development for the Sparks program. John will also serve as the liaison to our 9-12U coaches in order to make players see a seamless transition when they move up each year!

Maine Lightning Sparks was created for players who are ready to learn the game of baseball at these ages. We want to provide an opportunity for those players and families who are looking for a little more than what their town ball can offer.

Sparks training will take place at the Edge Academy and Portland area fields starting in November and going through May. Winter practices will be held on Thursdays, and spring workouts will move to Sundays (once fields are open).
